Get results in days, not monthsResults in days, not monthsIn a flooring Google Ads account, the details decide whether you pay for estimates or for curiosity. The word "flooring" attracts students, DIYers, manufacturers, wholesalers, job seekers and people in three other states. The phrase "luxury vinyl plank installers" attracts a homeowner with a room to do. Skilled management is mostly about steering spend toward the second kind of search and away from the first.
Here is how we lay out campaigns for flooring companies: the keyword and negative choices, scheduling and location targeting, what the landing pages need and what gets tracked. It does not quote typical costs or promise results. Ad spend goes to Google directly, and our fee is flat and monthly. A flooring company that treats the account as a record of how its market talks usually gets more from it than one that checks only the monthly total.
Campaign design
| Campaign | Sample search phrases | Landing page | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hardwood installation | "hardwood floor installers", "install oak flooring", "engineered hardwood installation" | Hardwood install page with gallery | Often the highest value ticket, so it gets priority budget |
| Luxury vinyl plank and laminate | "LVP installation", "waterproof flooring installer", "vinyl plank over concrete" | LVP page with room examples | Popular for basements and rentals, so expect many price shoppers |
| Tile and stone | "tile installer near me", "bathroom floor tile installation", "kitchen backsplash and floor" | Tile page, process and gallery | Separate campaign if you employ dedicated setters |
| Carpet and stairs | "carpet installation", "stair runner install", "replace stair carpet" | Carpet and stairs page | Stair work needs its own wording and photos |
| Refinishing and repair | "refinish hardwood floors", "hardwood floor repair", "water damaged floor repair" | Refinish page with process steps | Weather and season drive the volume |
| Showroom and brand | "flooring store near me", your flooring company name | Store page with hours and map | Cheap, protective and worth its own line |
| Commercial and multifamily | "commercial flooring company", "apartment flooring installer" | Commercial page with references | Different decision makers and a longer sales cycle |
Keywords
Keyword work for flooring starts with intent. Installation, refinishing, replacement, repair, "near me" and a place name usually mean the person is ready. Product comparisons such as "LVP vs hardwood" suggest research, and we may serve them a guide with a soft call to action rather than a hard sell. Terms about prices per square foot or "how to install" show do-it-yourself curiosity, which can be valuable for content but often not for ads.
The negative list matters just as much: jobs, careers, courses, wholesale, manufacturer, free, used, scrap, remnant and DIY wording that does not fit your flooring company. Add the names of retailers whose customers you do not want to pay for if you do not sell the same things. Expect to add negatives weekly at the start, as real queries show what slips through. If you offer installation only on materials purchased from you, or only on materials the customer supplies, say so in the ad so the right people click.
Setup
We ask what an average job is worth, which floors carry the best margin, how many estimates a week you can run and which towns you want.
Tracked phone numbers, form events and a note on which calls turned into visits, so results are counted in booked estimates and not clicks.
Each campaign gets its own ads, extensions, budget and landing page.
We draw the map around your real coverage and exclude areas you turn down.
Calls are most valuable when answered, so ads run when your office can take them, with adjustments for evenings and weekends.
We check search terms, trim waste and report calls, forms and booked visits on a monthly basis.
Landing pages
Same words, same floor
The headline should echo the query, such as "Hardwood Floor Installation in Your Town", with a photo of a finished floor in a home like theirs.
Reduce quote anxiety
Describe removal of old flooring, disposal, baseboards, transitions and furniture moving, or state clearly what is extra.
Phone first on mobile
Put a tap-to-call button near the top and keep the form short: room, floor type and when the work should happen.
Reviews and photos
A few real reviews and a gallery of local jobs. Stock images invite doubt.
Phones on weak signal
Compressed photos and minimal scripts keep the page usable.
No hidden fees
Explain what changes price, such as stairs, subfloor repair and pattern layouts, so quotes do not surprise people.
Scheduling
| Situation | Typical setting | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Showroom open Monday to Saturday | Ads and call extensions during open hours, forms only after hours | Avoid paying for calls nobody takes |
| Install-only, owner on the road | Call forwarding to a trained answering person or a callback form | Estimators cannot stop mid-job to answer |
| Weekend rush for homeowners | Lift bids on Saturday mornings, when many people shop for floors | Many searches happen on days off |
| Emergency repair after a leak | Separate campaign with quick response wording | Water damage searches carry urgency |
| Off-season | Lower budgets, promote openings | Capacity is available for new work |
Honest limits
Flooring is a high-ticket, comparison-heavy purchase. Many people call several companies, and some of them are fishing for a price to compare with a big-box quote. A well-built campaign cannot remove that behavior. What it can do is screen better: ad copy that names the service and a minimum job type, forms that ask about room count and timing, and a phone script that moves quickly from a price question to a measure visit.
Lead quality also depends on how fast your team answers. A caller who gets voicemail on the first try often dials the next company. We recommend a clear response routine, with the goal of reaching new inquiries the same day. Any advertising for sales and financing must follow state consumer protection rules and Google's advertising policies, which we check before launch. Your state contractor board may also have rules on advertising license numbers. This is not legal advice.
Negative keywords
| Group | Examples of words to block | What it saves you from |
|---|---|---|
| Do-it-yourself | diy, how to install, tutorial, instructions, tools, rental | Homeowners who plan to lay the floor themselves |
| Job seekers and training | jobs, hiring, careers, apprenticeship, school, course | People looking for work or a class |
| Wholesale and trade | wholesale, distributor, manufacturer, bulk, pallet, supplier | Contractors and resellers hunting stock |
| Low-intent browsing | pictures, ideas, colors, pinterest style words, free samples only | Image searchers with no project |
| Wrong materials | terms for floors you do not sell or install, such as outdoor decking if you do not build it | Clicks you cannot serve |
| Wrong places | towns and states outside your territory | Calls you have to decline |
| Used and salvage | used, reclaimed, remnant, surplus, closeout | Shoppers hunting leftovers rather than installs |
Edit this to fit your own business. A store that sells reclaimed boards should not block that word.
Reading the report
The most valuable page in a new flooring account is the list of searches that actually triggered your ads. In the first weeks it usually contains surprises. A campaign for hardwood installation may show clicks from people asking how to remove glue from a concrete slab, shoppers looking for a particular brand's discontinued color, or someone two states away. Each of these is either a reason to add a negative keyword or, occasionally, a hint about a service you could sell.
Look for patterns rather than single terms. If clicks on "cheap" phrases never turn into visits, bid down or exclude those phrases. If searches that include a neighborhood name convert well, build a landing page for that place. If a lot of people search for repair when your campaign is aimed at replacement, create a separate campaign instead of letting one budget fight over two intents. Over a few months the account becomes a record of how your market talks, which is useful for your site and your sales team as well. That makes the account worth reading even when the flooring company is not advertising heavily.
Rule of thumb
A healthy account for a flooring company has campaigns split by service, a negative list that grows each month, call and form tracking that agrees with your own records and landing pages that match their ads. It shows booked visits next to spend. It does not bury you in clicks and impressions. If your flooring company has been running ads for months and no one can tell you how many calls became estimates, that gap is the first thing to fix, ahead of any new keyword or bid change.
Search ad fees
Search ad Q and A
The management fee is $895 monthly for Google Ads alone, $1,595 with a second platform and $2,295 with three. Clicks are billed by Google separately. Nobody pays a setup fee, and nothing requires a contract.
That comes from your job values, your closing rate and the number of estimates your team can run. We help set a starting figure you can sustain, then adjust it after reviewing booked visits and not merely clicks.
Partly. Ads and forms can state what you install and on what terms, and negative terms help. Some people will still ask, so your phone script should handle the question politely.
Sometimes, for urgent repairs or customers who prefer to phone. For larger projects a mix of calls and forms usually works better, since people like to send photos and room details.
With caution. It is allowed in many cases, but it costs money and attracts people who wanted somebody else. Most flooring companies protect their own name first and test competitor terms on a strict budget.
Run it with terms and dates visible on the landing page. Platforms and states have rules for pricing claims and sale language, so we review them with you, and urgency you cannot back up stays out.
By comparing booked measure visits and signed jobs against spend, using call and form tracking. Clicks and impressions alone say little about a flooring company.
